UAE's Mars Mission Hope probes enters Martian Orbit

  • The Hope Probe entered Mars orbit at 7.42pm after its critical manoeuvre
  • Ground control station in Al Khawaneej, Dubai received first signal from the probe at 8.08pm
  • The Emirates Mars Mission is the first of three missions arriving at the Red Planet in February  
  • The Hope Probe will send the first picture of Mars within a week
  • The probe’s scientific mission commences in April and will continue until April 2023, with a possibility to extend for two additional years.
  • It will provide the first complete picture of the Martian atmosphere in data that is to be shared for free with over 200 research centres.
